1919-2008: A Proud History "It is my personal belief, based upon my long experience in the rubber industry, that this company is bound to make a huge success..."
Walter R. Denman
The preceeding was a statement by Walter R. Denman, founder of Denman-Myers Cord Tire Company, now known as Denman Tire Corporation. Mr. Denman founded this 89 year old tire company in 1919 after being associated with Diamond Rubber Company, The B.F. Goodrich Company, and The Miller Rubber Company. Mr. Denman was at the top of his profession as a mechanical and electrical engineer. He was instrumental in perfecting the first natural cord tire and was granted over a dozen patents. In 1919, a new plant, located at Warren, Ohio, was built to exclusively manufacture and ship Denman cord tires to the trade...estimating that within the next few years, there would be four cord tires for every fabric tire in use. Since 1919, the company flourished and changed directions with the times. The Denman family has since sold their interests but the name stands as strong as time. |
